Is there a way to install Debian on Portux920T?

Hello everybody.

Actualy I've compiled a program in a armel debian on qemu virtual arm, but when I copy that program to portux920t it does't run. I do so because it needs "flex" compiler to succesful build de software and I haven't found a flex cross-compiler.

I assume that if I install debian in my portux920t, I will be able to compile the software or at less the flex part of the software.
I'm newer in embedded systems and I would like to know if there is a way to

install debian on a portux920t.

I'm very happy to use an Angstrom Linux distribution which is included into the OpenEmbedded.org build environment.

Please, look at documentation sources 1, 2 and 3, and I'm sure, that you will be happy too.

There is no flex cross compiler as flex just generates C source code from its input files. So it should work with a normal flex version installed on your PC.

Installing Debian might still be possible with this howto, but you would have to change the script to use the architecture to "arm" instead of "armel" if you don't want to recompile the kernel, but I think this process is overkill if you just need flex to compile one application. It is also untested.

Hi cglindkamp, thanks for reply me.

I'm using the arm-linux-3.4.2- toolchain that comes within the CD of Portux920t, but when I configure the kernel to support eabi binaries, it is no capable of build armel architecture.

The following is the output for this:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
alan_as@alanAS-OptiPlex-990:~/registrador/linux-2.6.22-taskit4$ export CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-3.4.2-
alan_as@alanAS-OptiPlex-990:~/registrador/linux-2.6.22-taskit4$ make
CHK include/linux/version.h
make[1]: `include/asm-arm/mach-types.h' is up to date.
CHK include/linux/utsrelease.h
CC arch/arm/kernel/asm-offsets.s
cc1: error: invalid option `abi=aapcs-linux'
make[1]: *** [arch/arm/kernel/asm-offsets.s] Error 1
make: *** [prepare0] Error 2
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you have a tutorial or web page or tips to correctly compile an eabi kernel.

thanks in advance.

If you do not have a newer Starterkit-CD which already includes an EABI toolchain in the Stamp9G20/PortuxG20 folder, than you can also use the following toolchain: http://download.armbedded.eu/taskit-0.1/sdk/taskit-0.1-arm-linux-gnueabi...
