Process Control Daemon

Hi folks,

just in case:

Anybody around here having successfully used "pcd" (process control daemon) on AT91? I've not yet been able to configure, let alone compile...
It just looks like a perfect monitoring tool for complex configurations, keeping all of it alive and kicking!

Anyway, thanks for taking a look ;-)

Re: Process Control Daemon

Compiling doesn't seem to be difficult:

Did you you try that?

Re: Process Control Daemon

Sorry, looks loke a little more information is appropriate...
Yes, this is exactly the procedure I tried to follow. Unfortunately I do not get past unpacking the tarball. Any attempt to "make" whatever results in

*--------------------------------------------------
* Process Control Daemon
* Build date: Thu, 03 Feb 2011 15:32:50 +0100 :
*--------------------------------------------------
make: *** [conf] Fehler 2

So I did not get really far yet, you see?

Re: Process Control Daemon

Please try to configure pcd first. You can use the example config file for arm in scripts/configs/pcd_defconfig.arm. Just copy this file to pcd's root dir as .config and run make menuconfig. Configure your build requirements and then run make all. Make sure you have write permissions to the locations you specified in the configuration.
If you have any other questions about pcd, you can ask me directly by sending me a message in rt-embedded.com, or sourceforge.net.

Re: Process Control Daemon

I think you just have to install bison and lex to have the make file working. This isn't a default on Debian.

Re: Process Control Daemon

Just as I am used to, Achim knew this one first...
Now i will start testing it as soon as I can spare some hours for it!

Thanks a lot, and pardon me for being such a noob!

Re: Process Control Daemon

I am getting the same error trying to configure PCD on a AM335x running Debian. I have copied the pcd_defconfig.arm file into PCD's root directory (which I'm assuming is the directory where the tarball is uncompressed to) as .config and ran make menuconfig there, resulting in the make error. The error also occurs using the other make config options. I have installed bison and flex, but that is not working either. Does the pcd root directory need to be located in a specific location on the processor root? Thanks in advance.

Re: Process Control Daemon

Yes first of all we have to configure pcd file. Then we use the config file for arm. We just need to copy the file in to pcd root. It will run the menu config file. Now we can configure it as per our requirements and make it run.

Re: Process Control Daemon

I have been also looking for the same thing and search engine take here. We both are looking for it sounds funny.
